Sejarah SMP Negeri 8 Malang

A.SMEP ( Sekolah Menengah Ekonomi Pertama) Negeri Malang (1950-1955) Didirikan pada tahun 1950 , tepatnya 1 Juli 1950 sesuai dengan SK :5161/B pada awal berdirinya bertempat di Jl. Suropati Malang (Komplek SKODAM)Sekolah dimaksud sebagai sekolah kejuruan tingkat pertama yang bertujuan mencetak tenaga terampil ditingkat pertama

Pada tahun 1952 pindah ke jalan Arjuno 19 Malang dan diangkat sebagai Kepala Sekolah adalah Bapak Utomo. Dalam pengabdiannya selama 3 (tiga) tahun yaitu tahun 1955 Bapak Utomo diangkat menjadi Inspeksi  P dan K Propinsi Jawa Timur di Surabaya.

B. Sebagai pengganti Kepala SMEP Negeri Malang pada tahun 1955 diangkat Bapak Soebekti Harjosantoso. Dalam sejarah berdirinya SMEP rupanya mendapatkan perhatian masyarakat luas di wilayah Malang khususnya yang pada akhirnya karena banyaknya minat dari masyarakat untuk menyekolahkan putra-putri dan terbatasnya daya tampung , maka pada tahun 1966 SMEP Negeri Malang dipecah menjadi 2 yaitu SMEP Negeri 1 di Jl. Arjuno 19 dan SMEP Negeri 2 di Jl. Prof. Moch.Yamin Malang  yang sekarang beralih menjadi SMP Negeri 9 Malang. Sebagai Kepala sekolah SMEP 1 Bapak Soebekti Hardjosantoso dan SMEP 2 Bapak Slamet Tjiptomulyono. Pada tahun 1967 Bapak Soebekti Hardjosantoso  telah menjalani purna tugas (pensiun) maka sebagai PJS Kepala SMEP Negeri 1 Malang Bapak R. Soedjono (Wakasek) sampai dengan tahun 1969. Terhitung 1 Maret 1969 Kepala SMEP Negeri 1 Malang diangkat Bapak Darmoko promosi dari SMEP Negeri Tanjung Karang.

C. Pada Tahun 1977 SMEP Negeri 1 sudah tidak menerima siswa baru . Hal ini disebabkan karena adanya perubahan sekolah dari kejuruan menjadi sekolah umum yaitu SMP. Maka pada masa itu hanya menyelesaikan sisa-sisa siswa SMEP Kelas II dan Kelas III . Disamping itu sejak tahun 1978 membuka pendaftaran siswa baru untuk kalangan SMP Negeri 8 Malang.

D. Pada tanggal 17 Pebruari 1979 SMEP Negeri 1 Malang secara resmi integrasi menjadi SMP Negeri 8 Malang dengan SK No: 030/u/1979. Sebagai Kepala Sekolah  adalah Bapak Darmoko.

     Dalam perjalanannya setelah 1 tahun memimpin SMPN 8 Malang Bapak Darmoko  meninggal dunia karena sakit tepatnya pada tanggal 15 Pebruari 1980. Untuk melanjutkan kepemimpinannya seebagai penggantinya ditunjuk  sebagai PJS yaitu Bapak Ambari Wakasek Pada saat itu. Kemudian pada tanggal 1 Januari 1980 diangkat Bapak  Drs.Sutoro dari SMP 1 Blitar untuk menjadi kepala SMPN 8 Malang. Belum genap 1 tahun memimpin SMP Negeri 8 Malang Bapak Sutoro meninggal dunia karena sakit. Sebagai penggantinya ditunjuk PJS yaitu Bapak Sukandar Wakasek saat itu. Kemudian pada tanggal 1 Januari 1982 pergantian Kepala Sekolah dari PJS kepada Kepala sekolah yang baru yaitu Bapak R.Moh.Safiudin yang sebelumnya menjabat sebagai kepala SMP Ngeri 2 Pamekasan. Enam tahun memimpin SMP Negeri 8 Malang merupakan perjalanan yang panjang bagi Kepala Sekolah dalam mengembang tugas di SMP Negeri 8 Malang. Sudah barang tentu banyak kemajuan-kemajuan yang diperoleh untuk sekolah. Maka pada tanggal 1 September 1988 Bapak R. Moch.Safiudin Pensiun

E.         Periode  (1988-1990)

Pada tanggal 1 september 1988 sebagai penggantinya diangkat Ibu Mastiyam Chaidir untuk memimpin SMP Negeri 8 Malang sampai dengan  Tahun 1990. Tepatnya pada tanggal 1 Nopember 1990 Ibu Mastiyam Chaidir pensiun. Sebagai penggatinya Bapak H.Moh.Hasin yang sebelumnya Kepala Sekolah SMP Negeri 15 Malang.

F.         Periode (1993-1997)

Pada tanggal 24 Agustus 1993 Bapak H. Moh.Hasin dimutasi ke SMP Negeri 3 Malang    sebagai penggantinya kepala SMP Negeri 8 Malang dijabat oleh Bapak Drs.H.M. Solichien Saleh,BBA  yang sebelumnya sebagai kepala SMP Negeri 5 Malang. Pada tanggal 1 September 1996 Bapak  Drs.H.M. Solichien Saleh,BBA pensiun dan sebagai PJS ditunjuk Bapak Drs. Sutjipto yang saat itu sebagai kepala SMP Negeri 1 sampai dengan tanggal 17 Maret 1997.

 G. Periode (1997-2000)

Terhitung mulai tanggal 17 Maret Kepala Sekolah dijabat oleh Ibu Liliek Rochani  mutasi dari SMP Negeri 4 Malang. Pada tanggal 9 April 1997 sesuai dengan SK No. 34613/I04.7/OT/1997 tentang penggunaan nomor klatur UPT sekolah pada kepala surat Dinas, Cap Dinas/Stempel dan papan nama maka nama SMP Negeri 8 Malang berubah nama menjadi SLTP Negeri 8 Malang (Sekolah Lanjutan

Tingkat Pertama ) sampai dengan tahun 2001.

 H. Periode (2002-2004 )

Pada Tahun 2002    Ibu Liliek memasuki masa purna tugas, tetapi karena masih belum ada penggantinya maka beliau mendapat perpanjangan sebagai kepala sekolah selama 1 Tahun.

Kemudian di tahun 2002  Drs. Burhanuddin M.Pd secara resmi menjadi kepala SMP Negeri 8 Malang yang sebelumnya menjabat sebagai Kepala SMP Negeri 17 Malang.

Dalam kurun waktu 3 Tahun Drs. Burhanuddin.M.Pd telah memberikan dasar-dasar yang lebih kuat lagi bagi Bapak/Ibu guru dan karyawan  dalam upaya peningkatan kwalitas pendidikan yang telah ada baik dari segi pengolahan ( Proses)  Belajar Mengajar  maupun peningkatan kwalitas Sarana.   

I.  Periode (2004-2013)

Pada Tahun 2004 karena adanya mutasi kepala sekolah kpemimpinan di SMP Negeri 8 Malang ikut mengalami perputaran dan sebagai kepala sekolah yang baru digantikan oleh Bapak Drs. Gunarso,M.Si.

Drs. Gunarso adalah putra Kepanjen yang merintis guru di kota malang yaitu di SMP Negeri 9 Malang dan seterusnya diangkat sebagai Kepala SMP Negeri 22 di mutasi ke SMP 16, ke SMP Negeri 21 dan hingga saat ini menempati pos Kepala Sekolah di SMP Negeri 8 Malang.

Dalam perjalanannya Drs. Gunarso memimpin SMP Negeri 8 malang, telah banyak prestasi yang mampu diukir dalam upaya meningkatkan prestasi baik dari segi akademis mapun non akademis.

Dari paparan Kronologis “perjalan”Sekolah yang beralamat di Jl. Arjuno 19 Malang tersbut diatas maka tampak bahwa SMP Negeri 8 Malang bukan sekolah yang  baru, melainkan kelanjutan dari sekolah-sekolah yang telah mempunyai akar tradisi selama 57 tahun.(1950-2007) dan selama itu telah banyak prestasi yang  diukir dan mampu membuktikan kepada masyarakat bahwa SMP Negeri 8 Malang adalah salah satu dari 24 Sekolah Menengah yang patut diperhitungkan di Kota Malang.
